AI Video Credits Explained: Cost, Refunds, and Expiry

Credits are the only currency on DuetTake: no subscription, no monthly fee, no seat licenses. You buy a pack once and spend it whenever you like. Here is exactly how the accounting works.

What does a video cost?

Each export is priced by output quality:

QualityCredits
480p20
720p45
1080p80

The cost is charged when you press generate, and the counter on the generator always shows the price before you commit. If you are budgeting a project, the quality guide explains when the cheaper tiers are the right call.

What happens when a generation fails?

The reserved credits come back automatically. Three failure cases, one rule:

  • The provider rejects the request (safety review, unsupported content): full refund, usually within a minute.
  • Rendering fails mid-task: full refund when the task reports failed.
  • You cancel a queued task: the reserved credits are released.

You never need to file a ticket to get failed-job credits back — the ledger handles it. A failed job is annoying; it is not a financial loss.

Do credits expire?

No. Credits have no expiry date. Buy a pack during a launch discount and use it next year — the balance will still be there. This is a deliberate product decision: AI video is an occasional tool for most people, and a 30-day countdown would punish exactly the casual users the product is built for.

How should you budget a project?

A practical rule of thumb:

  1. Estimate one 480p draft per candidate idea (20 credits).
  2. Add one 720p export per idea that survives the draft round (45).
  3. Add a 20–30% buffer for retakes — faces and motion occasionally need a second pass.

So a personal project with three ideas lands around 200 credits; a single keepsake video is usually under 70. Current pack sizes and prices are on the pricing page.

Are there subscriptions?

No, and there won't be. Packs only. If a competitor's "cancel anytime" plan has burned you before, this is the alternative: pay for what you render, nothing else.

Frequently asked questions

Can I transfer credits to another account? Not currently. Credits are tied to the account that bought them.

Do refunded credits count toward my balance history? Refunds simply reverse the deduction — your balance returns to its pre-generation value, and the transaction log shows both entries.
